Propionic acid is a colorless, oily, moderately toxic, and corrosive liquid with a sharp rancid odor and irritating vapor. It is flammable when exposed to heat. A colorless pungent smelling liquid miscible with water and almost all normal organic solvents.
Application
Propionic acid is used in adhesives, agriculture, food, and pharmaceutical chemicals, and to produce esters, salts, and other derivatives.
